Andrei Sokolow gained his first experience in international championships at the Junior Asian Championships 2014 in Taipei , where he finished eighth in the Kazakh 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 16.02 minutes. The following year he retired from the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with 48.50 seconds in the first round and did not make it to the final with the relay either. In 2017 he was eliminated from the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 48.57 seconds in advance. He then took part again in the student world games in Taipei and was eliminated in the individual competition and with the relay in the first round. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran and won the silver medal behind the team from Qatar in the Kazakh relay in 3: 11.68 minutes. At the end of August he reached the semi-finals at the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he was eliminated with 48.60 s. At the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha , he was eliminated with 47.93 s in the lead and finished fourth in the mixed relay with 3: 20.73 min. At the World Relays in Yokohama , he retired with the mixed season in 3: 24.54 minutes in advance. He then reached the semi-finals in the individual competition at the Summer Universiade in Naples and was eliminated there with 47.97 s, while he finished eighth in the 4 x 400 meter relay after 3: 07.66 min.
In 2019 and 2020, Sokolow became the Kazakh indoor champion in the 400-meter run.
