Andrej Kurtschau ( Belarusian Андрэй Курчаў ; born April 23, 1980 in Minsk , Soviet Union ), also Andrei Kurtschew (from Russian Андрей Курчев ), is a former Belarusian handball player . He is 1.90 m tall.

Kurtschau, who last played for the German second division TV Emsdetten and played for the Belarusian men's national handball team, was mostly used in the right back area.

Career

Andrej Kurtschau started playing handball at SKA Minsk in his hometown, where he also made his debut in the first Belarusian league. For the 2000/01 season he was loaned to the German Bundesliga club ThSV Eisenach ; In 2001 he finally went to Germany, but to VfL Bad Schwartau . After the bankruptcy of his club, the whole team switched to the newly created HSV Hamburg ; In January 2003, Kurtschau moved on to VfL Pfullingen . With Pfullingen he was mostly only in the lower part of the table, but was able to successfully keep the Pfullinger league in the first Bundesliga three times there. In 2005, Kurtschau hired the newly promoted 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch , with whom he was immediately relegated in 2006, but at the same time also became the second best goalscorer of this Bundesliga season and recommended himself to other clubs. In 2006 he was signed by MT Melsungen. Due to protracted injuries, Kurtschau barely got into shape there, so that he moved on to HSG Düsseldorf in 2008. In 2013 he was promoted to the Bundesliga with TV Emsdetten . At the end of the season he ended his career.

Andrej Kurtschau has played 75 international matches for the Belarusian national handball team. With Belarus he qualified for the European Championships in 2008 , where he met Germany .
