Andrejs Cigaņiks (born April 12, 1997 in Riga ) is a Latvian football player who has been under contract with the Ukrainian first division club Sorja Luhansk since the second half of the 2019/20 season .

Career

Andrejs Cigaņiks joined the youth of Skonto Riga in his native city in 2010 . Just one day after his 16th birthday, he was used for the first time in the men's area, when he was substituted on for Skonto Riga's second team in a second division away game during the second half.

Almost four months after this mission, Cigaņiks moved to the B-youth team of the German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . There he played a total of three years. Following his youth, the club loaned Cigaņiks to the fourth division club FC Viktoria Köln . He came to a total of six competitive appearances for this and reached the first place in the league with the team , where he participated with a goal. In the following promotion games , FC Viktoria Köln failed at FC Carl Zeiss Jena ; Cigaņiks was substituted on in the second leg. After the loan ended, Cigaņiks left Bayer 04 Leverkusen and joined the second team of FC Schalke 04 . There he came to a total of 20 missions and five goals in the Oberliga Westfalen .

After one season, Cigaņiks moved to the Netherlands for the second division club SC Cambuur . There he received a contract with a term for the 2018/19 season as well as the option of continued employment for another season. On August 17, 2018, he played for Cambuur for the first time in a competitive game in the 2-2 draw at NEC Nijmegen , where he was called up for the entire duration of the game. Cigaņiks came in the first third of the season almost continuously and mostly over the entire game and missed only two of the first 15 games due to nominations for international matches of the Latvian association . He then lost his regular seat and played eleven of 21 possible games between November 2018 and March 2019, including only three over 90 minutes. The club announced at the end of March that it would not withdraw the option in Cigaņiks' contract and let it expire at the end of the season.
