Andrij Prosorow ( Ukrainian : Андрій Прозоров; own spelling: Andrej Prozorov ; born November 17, 1975 in Odessa ) is a Ukrainian saxophonist , composer and representative of jazz and world music . He gained fame through his collaboration with Joe Zawinul and the band Zawinul Syndicate .

Prozorov studied classical saxophone at the Odessa State Conservatory . In 2001 the pianist Rudi Wilfer brought him to Vienna, where Prosorow completed his jazz studies with Wolfgang Puschnig at the Vienna University of Music . From 2002 a regular collaboration with Joe Zawinul and Karl Ritter followed . From 2005 to 2013 he toured with Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries . Andrij Prosorow has been a member of the band Zawinul Syndicate since 2014 .

Andrij Prosorow played with Alegre Corrêa , Wolfgang Puschnig , Walter Singer, Otto Lechner , David Six , Jon Sass , Joe Zawinul, Vadim Neselovskyi and Karl Ritter , among others .

Since 2015 he has been working with the singer Christina Scherrer , with whom he founded the band Scherrer & Prozorov . Scherrer is responsible for the lyrics and the vocals, Prozorov for the arrangements and compositions. In autumn 2016 they took second place at the Troubadour Chanson & Lied Competition in Stuttgart .
