Vadim Neselovskyi

Vadim Neselovskyi ( Russian Вадим Неселовский , English transcription Vadim Neselovsky , born November 8, 1977 in Odessa , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian jazz pianist (also singing ), composer and university professor .

Life

Vadim Neselovskyi grew up in his hometown of Odessa , where he was admitted to the conservatory as the youngest student at the age of 15 . In 1995 he came to Unna-Massen as a Jewish contingent refugee and performed at the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally and the Leipzig Jazz Days . Neselovskyi began studying music with Boris Bloch at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and obtained a bachelor's degree at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold .

In 2001 he moved to the USA , where he graduated from Berklee College of Music with a diploma and later obtained a master's degree from the Thelonious Monk Institute in New Orleans . During his studies he composed a Berklee Promotion Song in 2003, which was produced by Pat Metheny .

From 2004 he was on tour with Gary Burton and his quintet ( Next Generation ) through the USA, Europe and Japan . He also worked with Christian Finger . In 2007 he presented his debut album Spring Song with his own compositions, on which the Dutch singer Vera Westera participated. In 2009 Herbie Hancock and Dee Dee Bridgewater took him on a tour of India. In 2010 he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition and second prize at the 5th Martial Solal International Jazz Piano Competition in Paris . In 2011 his solo album Music for September was written in Stamford and produced by Fred Hersch for Sunnyside Records . In 2013 he played in the Bez Granitz trio with Bodek Janke (drums) and Alexander Morsey (bass); he also recorded with East Drive . In 2014 he toured with Jeff Denson . In 2017 he worked in a duo with the singer Tamara Lukasheva ; he also presented the album Get Up and Go . In the field of jazz he was involved in five recording sessions between 2004 and 2011. Neselovskyi has been Assistant Professor of Piano at Berklee College of Music in Boston since 2013 .
