Christian Finger

Christian Finger (* 1964 in Unna ) is a German jazz drummer.

Finger began playing drums and composing as a child. He had lessons at the Musikhochschule Dortmund , later studied in the USA and the Netherlands and is a composition student of Heinz Derdack and Carl Christian Bettendorf .

Finger founded and directed the band Once in Lifetime , for which he also composed and with whom he performed at festivals in Europe. Since then he has been working with his own trio and quartet formations. In 2000 his first album Balance was created . After staying in Sydney in 2000, Finger moved to New York City . The Christian Finger Trio (later Christian Finger Band ) led by him worked here with musicians such as Dave Kikoski , Donny McCaslin , Seleno Clarke , Russ Lossing , Reuben Wilson , Matt Shulman , Peter Bernstein , Marco Panascia , Grant Stewart , Brian Murray , Mike Nock , Mark Issacs or Matt McMahon together. Other Fingers partners were Achim Kaufmann , Frank Wunsch , Matthias Nadolny , Gerd Dudek , Lotte Anker , Gunnar Plümer and Hans Wanning .

In 2007 he recorded the album Merge into Beauty in New York , and in 2008 toured Europe with his band and Rich Perry . Finger teaches at the New York Drum School and has published a textbook ( The Drum Work Book ) for drummers.
