East Drive
East Drive is a power trio or guitar trio whose repertoire is a mixture of modern jazz and fusion .
Band members
- Vitaliy Zolotov (guitar) grew up in Ukraine and came to Germany to study music. Here he played with Dee Dee Bridgewater , Sara Gazarek and Triosence, among others . At the 42nd Montreux Jazz Festival he was the winner of the Audience Award of the Palmares Gibson Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition.
- Philipp Bardenberg (bass) crosses the boundaries between the genres: on the one hand at home in jazz and world music , he has also been on tour or in the studio with numerous pop acts. He played with Sivan Perver, Xero Abbas, Arve Henriksen and Clueso , among others .
- Bodek Janke (drums, percussion, tabla) has been celebrated by the international press for years as "subtle", "consistently unmistakable" and as a "master of the many dialects". After a six-year stay and a master's degree in New York City, he played with Gilad Hekselman , the WDR Bigband , the NDR Bigband and Aynur Dogan, among others . In 2008 he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Prize , in 2010 the Soloist Prize of the New German Jazz Prize and won the International Bucharest Jazz Competition.
Concerts & guest musicians
East Drive regularly plays at well-known festivals and in renowned jazz clubs, mainly in Germany. The trio has invited prominent guest musicians from the German jazz scene, such as jazz pianist Pablo Held , singer and pianist Olivia Trummer , pianist Kristjan Randalu from Estonia and jazz pianist Vadim Neselovskyi, who lives in New York City . In addition, the band has a long-standing friendship with the Ukrainian singer Tamara Lukasheva , who can be heard as a regular guest on two albums and in many concerts. In 2017, East Drive played a concert with saxophonist Bill Evans at the first edition of the Jazzia jazz festival during Expo 2017 in Astana . Cross-genre ideas meet open ears at East Drive; The trio played several concerts with Mr. Shirazy, who combines electronic loops, grooves and melodies with the traditional and the familiar with his self-made instrument.
