Andrzeiowskia cardamine is the only plant species of the genus Andrzeiowskia withinthe cruciferous family (Brassicaceae).
description
Appearance and leaf
Andrzeiowskia cardamine is a one-year , herbaceous plant achieved the stature heights of 25 to 60 centimeters. The plant parts are bare.
The alternate on the stem arranged leaves are divided into petiole and leaf blade. The leaf stalks have stem-encompassing, almost circular auricles . The pinnate leaf blade consists of up to five pairs of ovate-elongated, notched leaf sections and a larger end section.

The hermaphrodite flowers of Andrzeiowskia cardamine are fourfold. The four free sepals are erect and not sack-shaped. The four white, nailed petals measure between 2 and 2.5 millimeters. The stamens have no appendages. There is a short and a long pair of stamens. The long, significantly conical stylus ends in a small capitate stigma .
Fruit and seeds
With a length of 12 to 20 millimeters, the linear, keeled pods , the two fruit flaps of which do not or hardly pop open, have two triangular wings at their tips that are shorter than the fruit stalk. There are about five seeds in each fruit compartment .
Chromosome number
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The species occurs mainly in wet habitats. Its distribution area is Bulgaria , Greece , Turkey , Syria and Lebanon .
Systematics
Andrzeiowskia cardamine was 1823 by Heinrich Gottlieb Ludwig Reichenbach in Iconographia Botanica seu Plantse criticae , Vol 1, p 15, panel 13 first described . The genus Andrzeiowskia was established in the same work; a wrong spelling is Andrzeiowskya Rchb. Synonyms for Andrzeiowskia cardamine Rchb. are Andrzeiowskia cardaminifolia Prantl , Andrzeiowskia cardaminifolia Thell. , Andreoskia cardamine ( Rchb.) Boiss. and Andreoskia cardaminifolia Prantl .
The genus Andrzeiowskia belongs to the tribe Cardamineae within the family Brassicaceae .
