At the Polish Ski Jumping Championships in Wisła in 1931 , Marusarz won bronze from the Malinka and thus his first national medal. He also showed his talent in the alpine downhill and was runner-up. Despite his versatility, Marusarz only competed in Nordic disciplines at the 1932 Winter Olympics . From the normal hill in Lake Placid he finished 22nd after jumps on 51.5 m and 54.0 m. In the Nordic Combined he reached 19th place. In 1933 Marusarz won his first medal in singles at the Polish Championships in Nordic Combined. In the 4x10 km relay he won silver in 1935.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1936 , Marusarz jumped into 21st place and reached 32nd place in the combination.

He celebrated his greatest success at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1939 in his hometown. In the combined competition, Marusarz scored 410.60 points and narrowly missed the podium in fourth. In the special jumping he was ranked 15th and in the 18 km cross-country skiing he reached the 55th place. With this he achieved his best world championship result in his fourth and last World Championship participation in both Nordic combined and ski jumping. Only in the long run he was in 1937 in Chamonix better with the 44th place.

In the course of his career, Marusarz won a master's title in ski jumping (1938) and one in Nordic combined (1939). He was able to celebrate both successes in Zakopane .

Second World War

After the outbreak of World War II , Marusarz had to leave Poland and fled via Hungary to Greece, where he was able to board the Polish passenger ship SS Warsaw , which was used to evacuate Polish soldiers and refugees during World War II. Marusarz then served in the Navy and was on board the SS Warsaw when the ship was hit by two German torpedoes on December 26, 1941 off the Libyan coast. Andrzej was able to save himself and in the following time sailed, among other things, as the helmsman of Allied convoys, including on ships that were involved in the Torch in North Africa and Overlord in Normandy.

After the war

After the war he continued to sail in the merchant navy for a while before finally returning to Poland. In his hometown Zakopane he worked as a ski instructor and youth trainer. He died at the age of only 55 and was buried in the Cmentarz Zasłużonych na Pęksowym Brzyzku cemetery.

Andrzej is the older brother of the Olympian and alpine skier Józef Marusarz and the cousin of the eleven-time Polish ski jumping champion Stanisław Marusarz and the resistance fighter Helena Marusarzówna . In 1948 he married Zofią Becker and had two children.
