Angela Cartwright
Angela Margaret Cartwright (born September 9, 1952 in Altrincham , Cheshire , England ) is a British actress .
Life
Cartwright was born in England, but spent most of her life in the United States. She was already in front of the camera at the age of three in the Hollywood film The Hell Is Inside Me by Robert Wise and in Flames over Africa the following year . Between 1957 and 1964 she played one of the leading roles in the television series Make Room for Daddy on the side of Danny Thomas . After this was discontinued, Robert Wise cast her in Meine Lieder - mein Träume - based on the musical The Sound of Music - with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in the leading roles as one of the Trapp children.
In the same year she received one of the main roles of the science fiction series Lost in Space (Lost in Space) , which made her known nationwide in the US. From 1965 to 1968 she played the role of Penny Robinson in 84 episodes . After three seasons, the series was discontinued. In 1970 a spin-off of Make Room for Daddy was produced under the name Make Room for Granddaddy , in which she took up her old role again. The success of the previous series could not be repeated, so only 24 episodes were produced. In the 1970s Cartwright had only a few guest roles, it was not until 1979 that she had a feature film role again in Hunt for Poseidon . After guest roles in Love Boat and Airwolf , Cartwright largely withdrew from show business in the mid-1980s.
She returned in a brief cameo in 1998 for the remake of Lost in Space . In 2009, she was next to Bill Mumy and Jonathan Harris , their Mitdarstellern from Lost in Space , a voice in the animated - short film The Bolt Who Screwed Christmas . In 2019 she appeared in a guest role as the mother of Dr. Smith (Bill Mumy) in Lost in Space , the Netflix reissue of Lost Between Alien Worlds .
Cartwright is married with two children, her older sister is the actress Veronica Cartwright .
