Angustia is a horror - short film by German director Sebastian Harrer from the year 2010. It is about two strangers who are delivered in a room their anxiety.
action
On a rainy night, two strangers share a room in a lonely country inn: backpacker Hans and the gloomy Tom Parker. Over the radio, both learn that the police are looking for a schizophrenic murderer. While Parker is showering, Hans secretly looks into his pocket and discovers bloody knives. Hans assumes that Parker is the killer he is looking for, and has only one goal in mind: to leave the room without Parker suspecting it. Despite several attempts, he does not succeed in escaping the supposedly impending danger unnoticed. Parker even tries to befriend him. When Hans sees no way out, he directs the conversation to the suitcase. Parker unwraps the knives without hesitation and Hans is now certain that he will not survive this night.
Parker introduces himself as a country veterinarian : he would have come from an emergency, would have been surprised by the weather and would be just as scared as Hans about sharing a room with a supposedly madman. A description of the murder weapon of the wanted perpetrator on the radio convinces Hans that the killer is in front of him. In agony, he stabs Parker down. Now it is revealed that Hans is the wanted, schizophrenic violent criminal, whose fear made him flee into a substitute personality. The alter ego takes on Parker's identity and disappears into the night with his car.
Background and production
The focus is on the classic human fear of the unknown, embodied by Tom Parker. Since Hans cannot easily escape this cramped situation, he suffers nightmarish states of fear. The clinical picture shown really exists, it is called dissociative identity disorder . According to Sebastian Harrer, the challenge was to build up the tension from a situation reduced to the minimum. Two people, one space, linear action. The tension arises in the head of the protagonist , and thus also in the mind of the audience.
The film was produced by SLM Filmproduktion and was shot in November 2009 on 5 days of shooting in Grafengars, near Waldkraiburg . The working title of the production was “Lost inside Angustia”, and it was shot on DVCAM.
On June 30, 2010 Angustia celebrated its television premiere on the pay-TV channel 13th Street , on November 29, 2010 the film was broadcast on free TV on Tele 5 . The film was distributed worldwide from 2010 to 2013 by OUAT Media in Toronto, since 2013 de film, as well as Harrer's Cinderella 3.0, has been distributed by One Cloud Entertainment in Los Angeles.
The director and the two actors have known each other since their studies, and both appear regularly in Sebastian Harrer's films. Julian Manuel in Pressed In , No One is an Iceland and Cheap Refueling in Tibet , Daniel Bucher in Short Decided , Cheap Refueling in Tibet and Cinderella 3.0 .
