geography

The place Anhausen has about 1400 inhabitants and is located a few kilometers southwest of Augsburg at an altitude of 517 meters on the edge of the Anhauser Valley. The Anhauser Tal extends over 6.5 kilometers in a north-south direction. Starting points are Anhausen (in the north) and Burgwalden (in the south). The path through the valley is closed to cars and through traffic and is therefore popular with hikers and cyclists. The Anhauser Bach flows through the Anhauser Tal and flows into the Schmutter in Diedorf .

history

The place was founded in the 6th to 7th centuries: The Alemanne Anno founded a settlement with his and two other families south of Diedorf in a side valley of the Schmutter, which from then on is called Annohuson, Anneshusa, and finally Anhausen (next to the houses of Anno ) .

The first written mention of the place name is in the year 1067. Volcmar de Anneshusa is a witness in a deed of donation from the Augsburg bishop Embrico to the collegiate monastery of St. Peter (at the Perlachturm) in Augsburg . The designation de Anneshusa , i.e. von Anhausen , is not a local nobility, but only a distinction between carriers of the same first name from different localities. Until its abolition in 1803, the Augsburg Cathedral Monastery held the land and local authority.

Since 1944 Anhausen was the residence of the painter Otto Michael Schmitt . In his studio in Anhaus he created a. a. also the designs for the Augsburg weaver house frescos (1959–1961).

On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Anhausen lost its independence and was incorporated into Diedorf . Diedorf has been a market with around 10,000 residents since 1996.

Local legends

There are various legends about Anhausen:

Say about the founding of the Oberschönenfeld monastery

Count Mangold, who lived in a castle in Anhausen, got lost during the hunt in the forest. In the wilderness he met a hermit who lived in a wooden hermitage. During the conversation, he learned that the hermit was an ancestor believed to be dead, who wanted to repent of his sins in solitude. After the hermit's death, the count had a chapel built on the site of the hermitage. Later, two noble chambermaids moved in and finally founded the Oberschönenfeld monastery.

Legend of the destruction of the Anhauser Schloss by the stone churches

A strict and jealous lord lived in Anhauser Schloss. His wife fled from him to the castle near Steinekirchen. He therefore had her persecuted and insidiously murdered. The Steinekirchner then moved out to destroy the lap in Anhausen. They finally succeeded.

Culture and sights

St. Adelgundis Church

St. Adelgundis Church

The Catholic parish church of Sankt Adelgundis Anhausen was consecrated in 1716. Tower, choir and nave are the work of the cathedral chapter master craftsman Hans Georg Mozart (great-great-uncle of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). The square, late Gothic tower floors come from a previous building from the 15th century. In the side altar is the sarcophagus of the so-called. "Adelgundisgrabes" from 1496. The church tower with its silver onion tip, visible from afar, rises 37 meters and carries four bells.

The first bell of the parish church in Anhaus was cast as early as 1459. The bell inscription for this (then the second largest) bell said: "Anno Domini 1459 jar I was cast in the eren sant Adelgundis" (i.e., "In the year of the Lord 1459 in honor of St. Adelgundis I was cast"). The larger bell bore the inscription: "1508 gos mich maister Sebold". The bells were therefore already in the previous building of today's church tower , as it was not fundamentally redesigned in its existing form until the 18th century.

The two smaller bells were from the 16th century. All four bells were cast in 1896 by the bell caster Hamm in Augsburg. The bell weight was 17.4 quintals, 8.9 quintals, 5 quintals and 3.2 quintals (in kilos: 870 kg; 445 kg; 250 kg and 160 kg).

The three smaller bells were removed and melted down during World War I in 1917. The Oberacher bell foundry from Munich replaced these three with new ones. The solemn consecration of the new bells took place on August 6, 1922. The bell weight was now 11; 6.8 and 5 quintals (550 kg; 340 kg; 250 kg).

In 1942 three bells were melted down again during World War II. Now it hit the three larger bells. These were again replaced in 1949. The smaller bell of the four bells still available today (2012) therefore comes from the previous inventory from 1922.

The largest bell bears the inscription: "Sancta Adelgundis - ORA PRO NOBILIS"; the second largest reads: "Salve Regine". At the bottom of the two larger bells, the bell founder called himself: "Master Benjamin Grüninger, Villingen, Neu-Ulm". The company existed until the 50s of the 20th century.

The church and steeple were badly damaged towards the end of World War II. On April 28, 1945 at around 3 p.m., an American shell struck the church roof. A second shell tore away a corner of the church tower below the sound holes. About 25 more grenades flew in the direction of the church and steeple and landed in the meadows behind. People were not harmed. The church roof, tower and interior were badly damaged and all windows were shattered. The cause of the bombardment was suspected to be that the Americans approaching from the direction of Gessertshausen had spotted a person on the church tower. The soldiers apparently suspected a German observation post on the tower and fired at the church tower and church.

Chapel "To the Good Shepherd"

Chapel "To the Good Shepherd"

The "Zum Guten Hirten" chapel is located outside the village on today's B 300 . It was probably built in 1715, making it one of the oldest structures in Anhausen. Badly destroyed by the Wiebke storm in 1990, it was renovated and rebuilt with the help of donations. Inside you can see a wall painting depicting Jesus as a shepherd. He carries a sheep on his right shoulder and a shepherd's staff in his left hand. Two of his disciples stand to the left and right of him and weep him. The inscription indicates the year of inauguration (1716) and the year of renovation (1990).

The Mozart monument in the Anhauser Tal

Mozart monument

The Mozart monument in the Anhauser Tal marks the Mozart circular route, which also leads through Anhausen. The composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was not in Anhausen himself, but his great-great-uncle helped build the church of St. Adelgundis.

Langer stele in front of the multi-purpose hall

Langer stele

The stele was inaugurated in June 2008 in the presence of Bernhard Langer and Mayor Otto Völk. The occasion was the 50th birthday of the golf professional (born on August 27, 1957 in Anhausen). The work was designed by the artist and sculptor Friedrich Brenner from Anhaus. The stele shows the golfer doing his sport on three sides. Page 1 pays tribute to the six-time German Champion, Page 2 refers to the US Masters victories, and Page 3 recalls the deployment at the Ryder Cup. The space around the stele and the multi-purpose hall was named "Bernhard-Langer-Platz".
