Anisodus is a plant genus of the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). It consists of four types that are mainly found in China .

description

Vegetative characteristics

The Anisodus species are perennial, herbaceous plants that survive by means of a fleshy, beet-shaped root. They are (rarely only 0.4) 1 to 1.5 m high, are hairless or finely haired. The leaf blades of the leaves are ovate, elliptical or broadly lanceolate, 8 to 15 cm long. They are entire, wavy or serrated irregularly.

blossoms

The flowers are solitary and nodding in the axils on 1.5 to 8 (11) cm long pedicels. The radially symmetrical calyx is broadly bell-shaped or slightly urn-shaped, thick and tomentose, about 20 to 35 (40) mm long and thus as long or slightly longer than the corolla tube. The calyx is set with five irregular calyx teeth, these are short, wider than long, differently shaped and conspicuously interspersed with ten ribs. The crown is broadly bell-shaped or bell-urn-shaped, has a length of 20 to 40 (45) mm, has five corolla lobes of the same shape, which are significantly wider than long and thus 1/3 to 1/4 the length of the corolla tube and are eyed and are bent.

The stamens of the same shape protrude beyond the crown, the anthers are (5) 5.5 to 6.5 (7) mm long, the straight stamens covered with short trichomes are up to 1.5 times longer than and close to the anthers fixed to the lower edge of the crown. The pollen is medium-sized with 43.5 to 48.5 µm.

The ovary is conical, the stigma disc-shaped, the nectaries ring-shaped, thick and protruding.

Fruits and seeds

The fruits are pyxidia , a special form of the capsule fruits , these are spherical and only 1/2 to 1/4 as long as the expanding, ribbed, 3.5 to 7.5 cm long calyx. The seeds are 3 to 4 mm long and the surface of the seeds is small.

Other specifications

The base chromosome number is .

Occurrence

The four species of the genus occur in the mountains of Nepal , India , Bhutan and China, where they grow at heights between 2,000 and 4,500 m. Two species can only be found in China, one species ( Anisodus tanguticus ) in Nepal and China and the most common species Anisodus luridus can be found in all four countries.

Systematics

The genus consists of four species:
