Anja Meulenbelt
Anja Henriëtte Meulenbelt (born January 6, 1945 in Utrecht ) is a Dutch feminist writer , essayist and politician . From June 2003 to 2011 she was a member of the First Chamber of the States General , the Parliament of the Netherlands, for the Socialist Partij (Socialist Party of the Netherlands). She became known through the international feminist bestseller The Shame is Over .
Career
Meulenbelt was born in Utrecht and studied in Amsterdam .
In Germany , Anja Meulenbelt became known as a feminist . In her publications like “Feminisme en socialisme” (1975) and especially in “De ziekte bestrijden, niet de patient. Over seksisme, racisme en klassisme "(German:" dividing lines. About sexism, racism and classicism ") she explored the question of how sexism , racism and classicism overlap.
In the last few years she worked at the Admira Foundation , where she led women's groups in the former Yugoslavia . She also supports handicapped people in the Gaza Strip in her work with the Stichting Kifaia . In 2008 she was a guest at the first Gay Pride in Ankara .
Anja Meulenbelt has published around thirty books that have been translated into several languages and almost all of them into German.
Private
Meulenbelt married an Austrian when she was young; their son Armin (* 1962) was born out of the marriage.
In January 2007, Meulenbelt married the Palestinian Khaled Abu Zaid, the ex-terrorist and founding director of the National Center for Community Rehabilitation (NFS) in Gaza , and they divorced in 2010.
