Anke Rita Kaysser-Pyzalla (born September 26, 1966 in Schwerte ) is a German materials scientist and mechanical engineer . Kaysser-Pyzalla was Scientific Director of the Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy and professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum . She has been President of the TU Braunschweig since May 1, 2017 .

career

Pyzalla received his doctorate in 1995 in materials engineering from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum. Between 1995 and 2001 she was a research assistant at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut in Berlin.

In 2001 she completed her habilitation again at the Ruhr University Bochum. Between 2001 and 2003 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Materials Science and Technology at the TU Berlin . In 2003 she was appointed professor at the Vienna University of Technology , where she researched and taught at the Institute for Materials Science and Technology. Between 2005 and 2008 she was a "Scientific Member" and director of a department at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Düsseldorf . In 2006 she was appointed adjunct professor at the Institute for Materials at the Ruhr University in Bochum . In October 2008 she moved to the Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy as Scientific Managing Director . In 2011 she was appointed university professor at the Ruhr University Bochum.

On December 14, 2016, Pyzalla was unanimously proposed as the new President by the Senate and University Council of the TU Braunschweig . On March 30th, she was appointed President of the TU Braunschweig with effect from May 1st, 2017.

At the meeting of the DLR Senate on March 18, 2020, she was unanimously elected as the new CEO of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) . She will take over the office from Pascale Ehrenfreund on October 1st, 2020 .
