Bernd Vine

Bernd Rebe (born September 5, 1939 in Braunlage ; † December 12, 2013 in Braunschweig ) was a German legal scholar , university professor and from 1983 to 1999 President of the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Bernd Rebe began studying law, economics and history at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel in 1959 . After a year in the United States in 1960/61, he continued his studies at the Free University of Berlin . After the first (1965) and second state examinations (1969), Rebe received his doctorate in law from the Free University of Berlin in 1969 on the supporters of freedom of the press under the Basic Law . In 1971 Rebe switched to the Faculty of Law at Bielefeld University as a research assistant and post-doctoral student . In 1983 he was elected President of the Technical University of Braunschweig. In this office he was re-elected several times and held this position for 16 years. During his time as president he shaped the interdisciplinary orientation of the university. As the first German university, the courses in biotechnology and bioprocess engineering (1987) as well as the simultaneous courses in industrial engineering and business informatics (1989) were introduced under his leadership . In 1999 he resigned from the office of university president and taught business and media law as a professor at the Institute for Social Sciences at the TU Braunschweig. In 2005 Bernd Rebe retired.

In his Thinking Explorations , which appeared in 1995, Rebe classified his publications into four “exploration fields ”: economy, politics, philosophy (including religion) and scientific development and its power to change. Rebe published a total of 23 specialist books as author and editor and around 60 scientific papers in specialist journals. After his retirement he also published a volume of short stories and two novels.
