Anna Maria Carpi
Anna Maria Carpi (born March 22, 1939 in Milan ) is an Italian Germanist and writer.
Life
Carpi studied German and Russian at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. She has lectured at the University of Milan and the University of Macerata and is a lecturer in German literature at the University of Venice . She writes for the features section of the daily Il Foglio and for the magazine L'indice . Carpi has stayed in the Soviet Union and Russia on several trips, she lived in Bonn for a long time .
Carpi has translated works by Friedrich Nietzsche , Thomas Mann , Gottfried Benn , Rainer Maria Rilke , Heiner Müller , Hans Magnus Enzensberger , Peter Handke , Alexander Kluge and Michael Krüger from German and by Leon Trotsky from Russian into Italian.
Since the 1990s, Carpi wrote four novels, then turned increasingly to poetry and has published several volumes of poetry. Carpi keeps a large-scale diary with over 15,000 pages.
In 1993 she received the “Premio Nazionale Letterario Pisa” for her collection of poems A morte Talleyrand . In 2000 she received the “Premio Monselice” for the translation of poems by Durs Grünbein , and in the same year she was invited to the Tübingen Poetics Lecturer . In 2011 she received the “Premio Nazionale per la Traduzione” for her complete translation work. In 2013 she was elected a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt .
She is married to an architect and lives in Milan.
