Anna Maria von Brandenburg-Ansbach (* December 28, 1526 in Jägerndorf , † May 20, 1589 in Nürtingen ) was a princess of Brandenburg-Ansbach and by marriage Duchess of Württemberg .
Life
Anna Maria was the eldest daughter of Margrave Georg von Brandenburg-Ansbach (1484–1543) from his second marriage to Hedwig (1508–1531), daughter of Duke Charles I of Münsterberg . Anna Maria was brought up in the Lutheran faith .
She married the future Duke Christoph von Württemberg (1515–1568) in Ansbach on February 24, 1544 . The marriage came about through the mediation of Christoph's father, Duke Ulrich von Württemberg . The marriage with the Protestant strengthened Christoph's confessional position. Anna Maria appeared economical and economical. She was responsible for the administration of the court pharmacy, from which she supplied the needy free of charge.
After the death of her husband, she fell into melancholy and spent her 20 years of widowhood in almost mental derangement in her widow's residence at Nürtingen Castle. As a 45-year-old she fell in love with Landgrave Georg von Hessen-Darmstadt , who was half her age and who later became her son-in-law. Eventually she was placed under guard as a mentally ill person.
