The upright growing rose 'Anna Scharsach' is characterized by a strong, slightly overhanging growth. The rose plant is about 100 to 150 cm high and 100 to 120 cm wide. The pink flowers, arranged individually or in clusters of up to three flowers, with a mauve to pinkish purple flower center are formed from 17 to 25 petals . They form a 10 to 12 cm large, loosely filled rose petal. The rounded, violet-pink rose buds with pinnate sepals later open to form a half-double to double, bowl-shaped flower, in the middle of which the golden-yellow stamens become visible.

The rose variety has medium-sized, pointed-oval, finely toothed leaves. The dull, medium to dark green foliage initially appears light green on long, strong shoots with a few large, pointed spines . The rose variety 'Anna Scharsach' is characterized by a strong fruity scent.

The rose variety that blooms more often is hardy ( USDA climate zones 6b to 9b). It blooms in early summer and restores vigorously in late summer. The rose is resistant to the known rose diseases .

The rose 'Anna Scharsach' thrives on well-drained to slightly loamy soil in fully sunny locations. It is suitable for planting near-natural gardens and cottage gardens and as a middle ground for flower borders . The rose is sometimes used as a cut flower in floristry .

The rose variety is still used today in many rosaries and historic gardens, including the Arboretum Borova hora (Slovakia), the Flower Festival Commemorative Park (Gifu, Japan), the Carla Fineschi Foundation Rosengarten (Tuscany), the Bergpark Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe (Hesse) , in the rose garden of the old Erndtebrück cemetery (North Rhine-Westphalia), in the Rosarium in Doblhoffpark (Baden, Austria), in the Rosarium Petrović (Serbia), in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and in the Rosarium The Friends of Vintage Roses (both in California) and in Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen (Saxony-Anhalt) shown.

Naming

The rose was named after Anna Scharsach (1838–1918), the daughter of Aloisius and Caty Elis Scharsach, a family from Bistritz ( Transylvania ) who were friends with Rudolf Geschwind . A rose bred by Rudolf Geschwind - Cäcilie Scharsach - was named after Anna Scharsach's sister Cäcilie .
