Anna Ternheim [ 'tæɳˌhεim ] (born May 31, 1978 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish singer and musician . Stylistically, she is assigned to the singer-songwriter genre, but also uses elements of jazz , folk and blues and even had a hip-hop remix of her piece "Bring Down Like I" produced.

Career

In 2004 their first album Somebody Outside came out in Sweden. There are also the single releases To Be Gone (2004), My Secret (2005) and Shoreline (2005). The latter forms the Shoreline EP with four other songs , all of them cover versions ( Shoreline by the Swedish group Broder Daniel , Little Lies by Fleetwood Mac , China Girl by David Bowie , When Tomorrow Comes by Eurythmics and Anywhere I Lay My Head by Tom Waits ).

In 2005 Anna Ternheim won the P3s gold award in the Best Newcomer category , and in 2007 in the Best female act of the year category . The follow-up album Separation Road came out on September 27, 2006 initially only in Sweden and Great Britain. The first single from it was released on September 13th. On February 16, 2007, Separation Road was also released in Germany.

The third album Leaving on a Mayday , released in 2008 , managed without a backing band. The producer played almost all of the instruments. This corresponds to Ternheim's concept of giving solo tours even more often in the future. Solo performances are the best way to get in direct contact with the audience. In addition, she is not a really good instrumentalist. “It's the songwriting that is my focus. That's why I started the whole thing in the first place. "

Their fourth studio album, The Night Visitor , recorded in Nashville , was released on October 28, 2011.

The Ternheim song Quiet Night could be heard in the 2nd season of the Swedish TV series Mankells Wallander with Krister Henriksson .

She provided the background music for the film adaptation of the novel by Peter Stamms Agnes from 2016.

Both Konami's video game Silent Hill Downpour ("Off the Road" from the album "Leaving on a mayday" & "Words of love" from "Separation road") and the game Alan Wake from the Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment ("No I don ' t remember "from" Leaving on a mayday ") play Ternheim's music on radios hidden in the game.
