Anna von Segesser

Anna von Segesser von Brunegg (born April 10, 1887 in Lucerne ; † January 9, 1973 in Küssnacht ) was a Swiss nurse and editor .

Life

Anna von Segesser was the daughter of Karl Ulrich von Segesser , captain and his wife Josefa, nee. Schwytzer from Buonas. Her sister was the writer Agnes von Segesser (1884–1964), and she was the granddaughter of the historian Philipp Anton von Segesser and the cousin of Ludwig Segesser (1879–1942), President of the Federal Insurance Court .

Anna von Segesser trained as a nurse from 1911 to 1915 at the nursing school in Zurich, which had opened in March 1901. She then got a job as head nurse at the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital .

From 1928 to 1945 she was the head of the X-ray department of the nursing school in Zurich and editor of the school paper. In 1945 she took over the editing of the Blätter für Krankenpflege and remained in this position until 1958.

Anna von Segesser was unmarried.

Act

Anna von Segesser was very active in the professional associations and advocated the improvement of nursing and the working conditions of the nursing staff.

She was active as a writer and published some historical writings and biographies as well as texts on nursing.
