Anne-Marie McDermott (* 1963 in New York City ) is an American pianist .

McDermott began playing the piano at the age of five and performed Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto in G minor at Carnegie Hall with the National Orchestral Association when he was twelve . At the Manhattan School of Music she studied with Dalmo Carra , Constance Keene and John Browning , and she also took part in masterclasses by musicians such as Leon Fleisher , Menahem Pressler , Misha Dichter , Abbey Simon , Rosalyn Tureck , Michael Tilson Thomas and Mstislaw Rostopowitsch . She won the Young Concert Artists Auditions and received the Avery Fisher Career Development Award , the Andrew Wolf Memorial Chamber Music Award , the Joseph Kalichstein Piano Prize and the Mortimer Levitt Career Development Award for Women Artists .

In 1992 she represented Murray Perahia in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto KV 466 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra , with whose performance with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra she won the silver medal at the Hamamatsu Piano Competition the previous year. In 1995 she went on a concert tour, followed by another in 2004. Her debut in 1997 with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Christian Thielemann was successful, followed by concerts with numerous well-known orchestras in the USA. From 1999–2000 she toured thirteen cities in the United States with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and played works by Sergei Prokofjew , Dmitri Shostakovich and Benjamin Britten .

As a chamber musician, McDermott became a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in 1995 , with which she tours annually. She works regularly with the violinist Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg , with whom she recorded the CD Live and a complete recording of the works for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms . She forms the piano quartet Opus One with Ida Kavafian , Steven Tenenbom and Peter Wiley , and the McDermott Trio with her sisters Maureen and Kerry McDermott .

With the violist Paul Neubauer she recorded works by Robert Schumann , with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center she recorded all of Claude Debussy's chamber music works . She has also recorded all of Prokofiev's piano sonatas, Johann Sebastian Bach's English suites , George Gershwin's works for piano and orchestra with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Joseph Haydn's piano sonatas and concerts with the Odense Philharmonic Orchestra . In 2009 she premiered Charles Wuorinen's Fourth Sonata and Clarice Assad's When Art Showed Up . In addition to her work as a pianist, she was the artistic director of the Vail Valley Music Festival in Colorado, the Ocean Reef Chamber Music Festival and the Avila Chamber Music Celebration in Curaçao.
