Anne Anderson (born July 1952 in Clonmel , County Tipperary ) is an Irish diplomat.

Anderson studied at University College Dublin , where she received her Bachelor of Arts .

In 1972 she began to work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During her diplomatic career, she held various positions here. Among other things, she was economic attachée from 1983 to 1985 and then from 1985 to 1987 press attachée at the Irish Embassy in Washington, DC

Anderson was Ireland's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva and served as such in 1997 as Vice-President of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development , and from 1999 to 2000 as Chair of the Human Rights Commission . From 2001 to 2005, Anderson was the Permanent Representative of Ireland to the European Union in Brussels .

From July 2005 to 2009 she was the Irish Ambassador to France . From January 2007 she was also accredited in Monaco . In 2009 Anderson became Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations in New York , replacing John Paul Kavanagh . In return, Kavanagh became the new ambassador to France and Monaco.
