from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anne Dorte Countess von Rosenborg (born October 3, 1947 in Copenhagen ; † January 2, 2014 in Gentofte ) was a well-known Danish noblewoman and member of the Danish royal family since her marriage to Christian Graf von Rosenborg (1942–2013).

Life

Worryfri Castle, residential wing of Countess Anne Dorte von Rosenborg

Anne Dorte was born in 1947 as the daughter of Villy Maltoft-Nielsen and Bodil Maltoft-Nielsen (née Maltoft). Her father worked in a branch of the Danish department store chain Anva as head of the radio and television department. She grew up with a sister, Pernille Maltoft-Nielsen. Until her wedding, Anne-Dorte worked as a perfumery saleswoman at Fonnesbech. She also worked as a mannequin and photo model, among others for Helena Rubinstein .

On February 27, 1971, in Lyngby near Copenhagen , she married the Danish Prince Christian , grandson of the Danish King Christian X. from the House of Oldenburg and cousin of the Danish Queen Margrethe II . As a result of the wedding, Christian, as the last member of the Danish royal family to date, lost his title Prince of Denmark due to an improper marriage and was given the title of Count of Rosenborg . Since he also lost his place in the list of heir to the throne , the wedding sparked a lot of media coverage.

Anne Dorte was raised to a Countess of Rosenborg through her marriage (Danish grevinde af Rosenborg ) and received the honorary title of Excellence (Danish Hendes Excellence (HE) for your excellence ). Her in-laws, Hereditary Prince Knut and Hereditary Princess Caroline Mathilde of Denmark , welcomed the middle-class Anne Dorte in a friendly and accommodating manner.

Anne Dorte and Christian von Rosenborg lived in Holte for a long time before moving into the so-called Damebygningen in 1991 , a building in the Sorgenfri Palace complex in Lyngby near Copenhagen . Anne Dorte's in-laws lived in the main building until her death in 1976 and 1995 respectively. At the end of her life, Anne Dorte von Rosenborg was the last remaining resident of Sorgefri Castle, which is officially available to Queen Margrethe, but has not yet been used by her.

Anne Dorte von Rosenborg only survived her husband by seven months. Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik also attended the funeral service in Lyngby Church on January 9, 2014 .

Role in public

Anne Dorte von Rosenborg regularly took part in royal events. This included official banquets as well as anniversary celebrations or the wedding of the Danish heir to the throne Frederik with Mary Donaldson .

Anne Dorte von Rosenborg was known to the general public from the Danish rainbow press, among others . The reporting documented their public appearances. In addition, Anne Dorte spoke in interviews about her life in the royal family and at Sorgefri Castle . Again and again she proved to be quick-witted. When she was once asked by a journalist whether one could even compare her family background with that of her husband, she replied: "Yes! Our families had exactly the same Christmas decorations! We inherited them from both sides, and now we don't know any more what hung where. "

In a TV3 documentary on the topic of “unequal couples”, Anne Dorte and her husband were portrayed and asked, among other things, about the loss of his title of prince, which they viewed calmly. Her daughter Camilla von Rosenborg appears in the same program , as she too forms an unequal couple with her middle-class husband Mikael Rosanes, who is twenty years her senior.
