Anny von Stosch

Anny von Stosch (born May 3, 1895 in Bremen ; † December 31, 1994 in Kassel ) was a German opera singer (soprano).

Life

Stosch was a student of the singing teacher Jacques Stückgold in Berlin . After the end of the First World War , Stosch had her first appearances as a concert singer and was able to make her debut as an opera singer at the Königsberg City Theater in 1924 .

She stayed there until 1927 and was then committed to the Lübeck City Theater until the summer of 1928 . Stosch then moved to Darmstadt's municipal theaters for four years . In 1932 she was engaged for one season at the Düsseldorf Opera House and in 1933 she went to the Nuremberg Opera for two years .

1965: Own home in Kassel-Brasselsberg

In 1935 Stosch was brought to the State Theater in Kassel, where she was able to participate in the world premiere of the opera Tobias Wunderlich by Joseph Haas in 1937 . Between 1935 and 1944 Stosch appeared regularly at the Berlin State Opera . From 1936 to 1938 Stosch also sang at the Bayreuth Festival , making her one of the most important Wagner interpreters of her time.

In 1950, Stosch said goodbye to the stage in Kassel and then worked for almost twenty years at the local conservatory . Anny von Stosch died on December 31, 1994 in Kassel at the age of 99.
