Anomodon attenuatus (German Dünnästiges Trugzahnmoos ) is a deciduous moss species from the family Anomodontaceae . German-language names are Dünnästiger Wolfsfuß or Verdünntästiges Trugzahnmoos .

features

Anomodon attenuatus forms moderately strong, often extensive, about 2 to 4 centimeters high, mostly yellow-green to brownish-green lawns. The ascending branches are usually strong and often branched in a pinnate shape. In addition to head-like, lumpy branches with leaves on one side, there are also thin, whip-shaped, elongated branches. The 2 millimeter long branch leaves are lanceolate to tongue-shaped for an egg-shaped base, have a short tip and a few coarse peripheral teeth below this. The strong vein ends in front of the leaf tip.

The leaf cells are roundish, opaque in the upper part of the leaf, each have 2 to 5 papillae and are 8 to 12 µm in size in the middle of the leaf. The cells at the base of the leaf near the rib are transparent, rectangular to elongated and have no papillae.

Sporogons are very rarely formed. The seta is red and 10 millimeters long, the spore capsule upright, cylindrical, slightly curved, the lid beaked.

Location claims and distribution

Anomodon attenuatus grows mainly in deciduous forests on rocks and on tree bases, less often on earth. Frequent companion mosses are Anomodon viticulosus and Porella platyphylla .

The distribution includes Central and Northern Europe, large parts of Asia as well as North and Central America. In Europe it is a mountain moss of the lower layers. It is particularly widespread and often common in limestone areas. It is rare in northern Germany.
