Antonio José Rafael

António José Rafael (born November 11, 1925 in Paradinha ; † July 29, 2018 ) was a Portuguese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Bragança-Miranda .

Life

António José Rafael received his philosophical and theological training at the Pontifical University of Salamanca on August 22, 1948, the ordination of priests .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 2, 1976 auxiliary bishop in Bragança e Miranda and titular bishop of Budua . The Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal , Archbishop Angelo Felici , donated him episcopal ordination on February 13 of the following year ; Co- consecrators were António de Castro Xavier Monteiro , Archbishop ad personam of Lamego , and Manuel de Jesus Pereira , Bishop of Bragança e Miranda.

On February 26, 1979, he was appointed Bishop of Bragança e Miranda by Pope John Paul II . On June 13, 2001, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
