Antônio Carlos Santos (born June 8, 1964 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian soccer player who mainly played in the attacking midfield .
career
Antônio Carlos spent his first professional years at his hometown club Botafogo FR before moving to Club America in the first Mexican league in 1987 . Apart from two short trips to Portugal to FC Porto (1992) and to Japan to Sanfrecce Hiroshima (1997), he stayed in Mexico until the end of his active career . He spent most of his time with the Americanistas , with whom he won the championship title and the Supercup twice in the 1987/88 and 1988/89 seasons . Antônio Carlos also won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup twice (1987 and 1990) and the Copa Interamericana in 1991 with Club América at international level .
After his time at America he was still working for the Mexican clubs UANL Tigres , Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , Santos Laguna , Monarcas Morelia and CF Atlante .
After his active career, Antônio Carlos worked as a coach with the Albinegros de Orizaba (2002) and their license successor Lagartos de Tabasco (2003) as well as with his former club Tiburones Rojos Veracruz (2010).
