Lazar Leštarić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Лазар Лестарић ; born January 17, 1997 in Belgrade , Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian ice hockey player who has played for the McKendree Bearcats, the McKendree University team, in Division III of the US University Championships since 2015 .

Career

Lazar Leštarić began his career as a hockey player at HK Partizan Belgrade in his hometown, for whom he played in the Serbian ice hockey league at the age of 15 . In addition to his appearances for Partizan, he also played with the Serbian U20 team in the league. In 2014 he moved to the United States, where he first played with the Tam of the National Sports Academy in the US High School League. Since 2015 he has been on the ice for the McKendree Bearcats, the McKendree University team, in Division III of the US University Championships .

International

For Serbia Leštarić took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2014 and 2015 , when he was named the best striker of the tournament, as well as the U20 World Championships in 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 in Division II. In 2015 he was the team captain of the Serbian U18 team.

In the men's division, Leštarić played for the Serbian team for the first time at the 2016 World Cup in Division II.
