Antboy - Revenge of the Red Fury

Antboy - The Ant Bite (Original title: Antboy ) is a Danish youth film by Ask Hasselbalch from 2013 . It is based on the children's book series of the same name by Kenneth Bøgh Andersen and is the first part of the film series. This was followed by Antboy - The Revenge of the Red Fury (2014) and Antboy - Superhelden hoch 3 (2016). The world premiere took place at the Toronto International Film Festival 2013. The film opened in Germany on March 27, 2014.

The 12-year-old Pelle feels invisible at school until one day he escapes from two thugs and is accidentally bitten by a genetically modified ant. Then strange and inexplicable things happen. The comic and superhero freak Wilhelm soon noticed him and offered him help. A close friendship quickly develops between the two boys. Pelle is in love with his classmate Amanda, but when she is kidnapped, Amanda's twin sister Ida asked the now well-known and popular hero Antboy for help. Together with her and Wilhelm, he finds out that Amanda was kidnapped by a flea mutant who wants to get revenge on her father. Antboy aka Pelle helps her escape and later successfully fights her kidnapper. Amanda falls in love with Antboy, but Antboy knows that she only sees him as a hero. At the end of the film, Pelle, Wilhelm and Ida are good friends and Ida has since found out that Antboy and Pelle are one and the same person.

Awards

At the presentation of the Danish Film Awards , Antboy - The Ant Bite was recognized as the best film for children and young people and the film with the best special effects . There were also nominations in the categories Best Costumes , Best Result , Best Mask and Best Comedy .
