Jakob von Anthen (* around 1640 in Hamburg ; † August 1678 there ) was a German lawyer and senior secretary of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Life

Born in Hamburg, Anthen studied law at the University of Tübingen after finishing school . Here he had enrolled on April 15, 1663. In 1664 he was named as the well-wisher of Christophorus Daurer. In 1665 he graduated as a Licentiate of the ecclesiastical and secular law in Tübingen at Erich Mauritius (1631 to 1691). In the same year, Heinrich Christian Gebhard published a congratulatory letter to Anthen and other graduates. Anthen returned to Hamburg after completing his studies, where he became a lawyer and vicar at the cathedral . In 1673 his former professor Mauritius from Tübingen, from 1665 in Kiel , again published the work by Anthen, which had already appeared in Tübingen in 1665. On February 9, 1676, Anthen was appointed senior secretary and sworn in before the Senate on March 14, 1676 . His predecessor in office was Hieronymus Heer , who was suspended in 1674. Anthen held this office until his untimely death in early August 1678. Hartwig Bambamius succeeded him in office as senior secretary .
