Antje Siebrecht (born May 1, 1958 in Kassel ; † December 21, 2013 there ) was a German visual artist .

Life

Antje Siebrecht grew up in Kassel, graduated from high school there in 1978 and studied from 1979 to 1985 at the Kassel University in the field of fine arts , among others with Professor Hans Günther Spornitz . From 1982 to 1986 she studied at the same time at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts with Almir Mavignier . In the period from 1986 to 1996 Siebrecht lived and worked mainly in London , where she studied at the Royal College of Art from 1986 to 1988 and graduated with a Masters (RCA) .

She presented her paper works and travel pictures in various exhibitions and galleries at home and abroad. In her paper collages , Siebrecht often deals with the subjects of “traveling and being on the move” as well as the “insatiable longing for paradise ”, whereby her “paper memories and atmospheric landscapes” can always be assigned to specific places and experiences. She processed her collection of papers from all over the world, which included handmade papers, manuscripts, sheet music, wallpaper, architectural drawings and nautical charts.

She has held numerous teaching positions and has received several awards and grants from international institutions.

Siebrecht lived and worked in Kassel again since 1996.
