Administrative division of the Yaroslavl Oblast
The Yaroslavl Oblast in the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation is divided into 17 Rajons and 3 urban districts .
A total of 11 urban and 69 rural communities are subordinate to the Rajons (as of 2010). A special feature of the Yaroslavl Oblast among the Federation subjects of Russia is the further subdivision of the municipalities into rural districts (Selski okrug ) as an additional structural level. Of these, there are a total of 225, including 224 within rural municipalities and one as part of a municipality of the same name ( Ljubim ). Most of the eleven urban-type settlements in the oblast also belong to rural communities instead of forming independent urban communities, as is usually the case.
