Anton Breitenhofer

Anton Breitenhofer (born April 10, 1912 , Reșița , Austria-Hungary ; † December 17, 1989 in Bucharest , Romania ) was a Romanian-German communist politician, German-speaking journalist , writer of the literary genre of the proletarian cult and long - time editor- in - chief of the German daily newspaper Neuer, published in Bucharest Way .

Life

Breitenhofer initially worked as a locksmith in Reșița. In 1939 he joined the Romanian Communist Party .

After the Second World War he attended the "Mihai Eminescu School of Literature and Literary Criticism", which existed from 1950 to 1954 to train a communist-indoctrinated literary generation. He was a member of the German Antifascist Committee for Romania . From 1955 to 1979 he was a member of the Central Committee of the KPR as a representative of the Romanian German minority and editor (1954–1975) of the newspaper Neuer Weg . From 1960 he was a member of the Bureau of the Association of Writers of Romania and from 1962 to 1968 he was a member of the Executive Committee of this association. In 1968 he became a member of the State Committee for Art and Culture.

On November 15, 1968, at the constituent meeting of the Council of Working People of German Nationality in the Socialist Republic of Romania , Breitenhofer was elected deputy chairman Eduard Eisenburger ; further deputies were Peter Lamoth , Richard Winter and Paul Schuster .

Awards

In May 1961, Breitenhofer received an award in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Romanian Communist Party.
