Peter Lamoth

Peter Lamoth (* 1908 in Deta , Temes County , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary ; † 1995 ) was a Romanian physicist , university professor and representative of the Romanian Germans in the Socialist Republic of Romania .

Life

Peter Lamoth came from the Banat Swabian ethnic group . The math and physics teacher worked as a speaker in the branch of the school book publisher in Timișoara , which was set up in the early 1950s . He received his doctorate in physics in 1965 and was appointed professor at the physics chair of the electrical engineering faculty of the Timișoara Polytechnic University in 1967 (Dr. Prof.habil. And emeri.). Lamoth was involved in research projects on condensed matter, crystal growth under extreme conditions of temperature and pressure, and phase transitions in liquid crystals. Together with Constantin Sălceanu, Lamoth supervised fifteen doctoral students between 1968 and 1976. Together with Zeno Schlett, he held a patent for a “controlled magnetic switchgear”.

On November 15, 1968, Lamoth was elected as deputy chairman Eduard Eisenburger alongside Anton Breitenhofer , Richard Winter and Paul Schuster at the constituent meeting of the Council of Working People of German Nationality in the Socialist Republic of Romania . Together with Johann Wolf, he was a participant in the 4th plenary session of the Berlin Conference of European Catholics .

Lamoth was honored in 1970 as "Profesor universitar emerit al Republicii Socialiste România" ( German  Honored University Professor of the Socialist Republic of Romania ).
