Anton Bruggisser

Anton Bruggisser (born March 15, 1835 in Wohlen ; † March 21, 1905 there ) was a Swiss doctor and politician .

biography

Born as the son of Wohler lawyer and later National Councilor Johann Peter Bruggisser , Anton Bruggisser attended the Aarau Cantonal School . From 1854 he studied at the universities of Munich , Würzburg , Prague , Vienna and Bern medicine . In Würzburg he joined the Corps Nassovia in 1857 . After completing your studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. med. In 1858 he settled as a doctor in Wohlen, where he practiced until 1897. In 1871 he became a partner in his father's straw weaving company, M. Bruggisser & Co., founded by his grandfather, which he later took over.

From 1879 to 1889 he was a member of the Aargau Grand Council . After the parliamentary elections in 1881 he was a liberal member of the National Council until 1884 . He was a member of both the cantonal and the federal sanitary commission. Politically, he was committed to founding the Aarau Cantonal Hospital , the Muri Nursing Home and the Aargau Lung Sanatorium in Erlinsbach .

From 1862 to 1872 he was in charge of the district school maintenance department in Wohlen and from 1873 to 1879 of the comprehensive school maintenance department. As part of his charitable work, he was president of the Bremgarten - Muri savings fund , the Bremgarten cultural society and the Wohlen local non-profit association.
