Anton Dörrer

Anton Dörrer (born June 13, 1886 in Innsbruck ; † March 27, 1968 ibid) was an Austrian historian and folklorist , librarian and archivist .

Life

After attending grammar school in Feldkirch , he studied German in Innsbruck and Florence , which he completed with a doctorate in 1916 . Since 1907 he belonged to the student union AV Austria Innsbruck . From 1919 to 1939 he worked as a librarian in the Innsbruck University Library . At the same time he became involved with Eduard Reut-Nicolussi in the Tyrolean constitutional chancellery , which campaigned for the political rights of South Tyrol . In 1946 he completed his habilitation in folklore under Hermann Wopfner and was appointed lecturer in folklore in 1951 . He later became head of the Tyrolean State Archives .
