Anton von Aretin (politician)

Anton Freiherr von Aretin (born August 15, 1918 in Munich ; † June 12, 1981 in Aldersbach , Lower Bavaria ) was a German politician of the Bavarian Party (BP).

Von Aretin came from the Aretin family and was the son of the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper Münchner Neue Nachrichten , Erwein Freiherr von Aretin (1887–1952) and Countess Maria Anna von Belcredi (1888–1968). He had three younger brothers: Sebastian (1921–1945), the historian Karl Otmar (1923–2014) and the Jesuit Richard (1926–2006). He was the cousin of Annette von Aretin and a great-great-nephew of the well-known Bavarian historian and librarian Johann Christoph Freiherr von Aretin .

After graduating from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich, he studied law in Munich and Prague . From 1941 to 1946 he was in exile in Iceland .

In 1946 he first became a member of the CSU . In the early summer of 1947, he and Anton Donhauser and other members and functionaries who were disappointed that the Schäffer - Hundhammer wing had not been able to prevail with its genuine Bavarian state-political ideas, joined the Bavarian party. In the same year he became district chairman of the Bavarian Party in Lower Bavaria .

Aretin was a member of the German Bundestag from 1949 to 1953 . There he represented the Bavarian Party, which on December 14, 1951 formed a parliamentary group with the Center Party under the name of the Federal Union (FU). He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1950 until May 2, 1951. He represented the constituency of Vilshofen .

From 1954 until his sudden death he worked for the Aldersbach brewery and contributed significantly to its success. In 1969 he married the Austrian Johanna Colloredo-Mansfeld (1923-2010).
