Anton Günther Heshusius

Anton Günther Heshusius (also: Hesshusen, Hesshus ; born January 6, 1638 in Oldenburg in Oldenburg ; † June 24, 1700 in Leipzig ) was a German philosopher.

Life

The great grandson of Tilemann Hesshus came from a German family of preachers. His grandfather Gottfried was a court preacher in Aurich , later in Minden and his father Johann Heshusen was a pastor preacher in Hatten near Oldenburg. After completing his training in his hometown, he began studying at the University of Leipzig in the summer semester .

In Leipzig he became a baccalaureus on April 9, 1659 , acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy on January 24, 1661 , completed his habilitation and in 1664 became an assessor in the philosophical faculty. In 1666, the philosophy faculty of the Leipzig University assigned him the professorship of the Aristotelian Organon . On June 16, 1670, he was admitted to the theological faculty as a baccalaureus and on May 9, 1671 he was promoted to a licentiate in theology.

Heshusius also took part in the organizational tasks of the Leipzig University. He was accepted as a collegiate in the Great Princely College , was decemvir of the university in the summer semester of 1697 and rector of the alma mater in the summer semesters of 1673, 1685, 1691 and 1697 .

He was buried on June 27, 1700.
