Anton Lamprecht

Anton Lamprecht (born August 12, 1901 in Allershausen , † January 22, 1984 in Munich ) was a German painter .

Life

Lamprecht was born the illegitimate son of the maid Magdalena Brunner. Brunner only married his father four months after Lamprecht was born. He grew up in Freising . There he developed his above-average drawing skills at school. At the age of 17, Lamprecht first moved to Munich and a year later to Düsseldorf . At the art academy there , he began studying with Lothar von Kunowski , which he graduated with honors after six semesters.

After a year as a teacher training candidate at the secondary school Ohligs-Wald (Rhineland), Lamprecht returned to Munich in 1923. There he began to study painting with Karl Caspar at the Munich Art Academy . As an employee of Caspar, he was involved in the painting of Bamberg Cathedral .

For his work he was awarded the Albrecht Dürer Prize of the City of Nuremberg in 1927 and the Rome Prize in 1929 . He was a member of the German Association of Artists and the New Group .

Anton Lamprecht died unmarried on January 22, 1984 in Munich at the age of 82.
