Anton Mühlhofer

Anton "Toni" Mühlhofer (born November 23, 1958 ) is an Austrian jazz drummer and percussionist.

Live and act

Mühlhofer studied classical percussion at the Vienna University of Music and jazz drums at the Vienna Conservatory. He made several trips to Cuba to specialize in Latin Jazz . Between 1987 and 2001 he was the drummer of the musical orchestra of the United Theater in Vienna . He also played in bands such as Koolinger , Jazzmetalex , the Art of Brass Ensemble , Modern Times , the Vienna Big Band Machine and the ensembles of Walter Hörler and Teddy Ehrenreich . Since 1998 he has also worked in Supercussion Wien , which includes percussionists from the Vienna Philharmonic , the Vienna Symphony and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra . In 1996 he became a member of the Percuba Percussionist Association in Havana . In 2003 he founded the Caoba group (with Andrey Prozorov , Philippine Duchateau and Raphael Preuschl ).

As a sideman he worked at concerts and recordings with musicians as diverse as Joe Zawinul , Toots Thielemans , Arturo Sandoval , Eddie Lockjaw Davis , George Masso , Jim Galloway , Fatty George , Leo Wright , Gary Foster , Plácido Domingo , Thomas Hampson , Angel Romero , Steve Hackett , Johnny Logan , Hubert Tubbs Alegre Corrêa , Erika Pluhar , Udo Jürgens and Peter Alexander together.

Mühlhofer has been teaching Latin percussion and jazz drums at the Vienna Conservatory since 1992, and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2002 .
