Anton Nuhn

Johann Anton Nuhn (born June 21, 1814 in Schriesheim near Heidelberg , † June 27, 1889 in Heidelberg) was a German anatomist .

Life

Anton Nuhn studied medicine in Heidelberg . One of his professors was Friedrich Tiedemann . In 1838 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg and in 1841 private lecturer in anatomy. From 1844 to 1849 he was prosector and then associate professor at the Anatomical Institute in Heidelberg . In 1872 he became honorary professor of anatomy in Heidelberg. He was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors . In Heidelberg he was a member of the Masonic Lodge Ruprecht zu den five Rosen . In 1857/58 and between 1861 and 1863 he officiated as master of the chair .

Nuhn is one of the namesake of the Blandin Nuhn gland in the tip of the tongue, which he is considered to have discovered. The processus vaginalis fasciae transversalis is named after Nuhn as Nuhn-Fascial funnel .
