Antonia Fahberg

Antonia Fahberg (born May 19, 1928 in Vienna ; † October 21, 2016 in Munich ) was an Austro-German opera, operetta, lied and oratorio singer ( soprano ).

Life

After studying singing at the Vienna Music Academy, she made her debut at the Innsbruck State Theater in 1950 . Two years later she became a permanent member of the ensemble at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich . Antonia Fahberg was one of the female audience favorites of the house , along with Erika Köth , Sari Barabas , Marianne Schech , Hertha Töpper , Lilian Benningsen , Ingeborg Hallstein and Rosl Schwaiger . For over 25 years she sang all large and small parts of her subject.

Antonia Fahberg has made guest appearances on the major European opera stages, including Vienna, Hamburg, Brussels and Amsterdam. Furthermore, she often shone at the Salzburg Festival.

The soprano was also a popular oratorio singer. For many years she was a permanent member of the soloist ensemble of Karl Richter , who celebrated worldwide success with his Munich Bach Choir .

The soprano also sang many operetta melodies. Her record Im White Horse under Franz Marszalek (with Peter Alexander , Herta Talmar and Franz Fehringer , among others ), was released in the 1960s on the Polydor label and later on CD again on Philips . Also under Franz Marszalek, a cross-section of mask in blue was produced at Polydor, later on CD at Philips .

Together with Fritz Wunderlich, Antonia Fahberg took part in the music recordings of television versions of the operettas Die Fledermaus , Das Land des Smiles , and The Bird Trader for WDR . Franz Marszalek was the conductor here as well .
