Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi
José Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi Lasa (born March 22, 1927 in Madrid , † September 28, 2017 in Ibiza ) was a Spanish film director , screenwriter , film editor and film producer .
life and career
Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi was born to Antonio Ysasi-Ysasmendi Roji (1901-1938) and his wife Nieves Lasa Nogué. The real spelling of his surname is therefore Ysasi-Ysasmendi Lasa .
He began his career in the film business in 1946 as an editor for Ignacio F. Iquino's short film Noche Flamenco . His films El ángel gris (1947) and Canción mortal (1948) followed. Until 1955 he was also responsible for film editing on projects by Antonio Román , Jerónimo Mihura , Manuel Tamayo , Julio Salvador , Joaquín Luis Romero Marchent and Francisco Rovira Beleta .
For Julio Salvador's Apartado de correos 1001 (1950) Isasi-Isasmendi wrote the script for the first time, together with Julio Coll . For the first time he directed his short documentary about Barcelona entitled Barcelona es bona in 1950 .
In 1956 he founded his own production company. His first self-produced film was Bloody Rhapsody in 1958 , for which he also wrote the screenplay and directed. His international breakthrough came with The Secret of Scaramouche (1963). He was a member of the international jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1981 . The screenplay for El aire de un crimen was nominated for the Goya 1989 in the category “best adapted screenplay” .
Isasi-Isasmendi had a relationship with the actress Marisa Paredes , from whom the actress María Isasi emerged as their daughter .
