Antonio Nájera (born April 10, 1998 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican ice hockey player who has played for the Steel County Blades in the United States Premier Hockey League since 2016.
Career
Antonio Nájera began his career as a hockey player with the Lerma Estado Ice Sharks. From 2014 to 2016 he was trained at the Banff Hockey Academy in Canada. Since 2016 he has played for the Steel County Blades from Owatonna in the United States Premier Hockey League.
International
In the junior division, Nájera represented the Mexican U18 selection at the U18 World Championships in 2014 , 2015 when he was voted the best player in his team, and in 2016 in Division III and with the U20 selection at the World Championships in Division III in 2015 and 2016 and Division II in 2017 and 2018 , when he was again named best player on his team, on the ice.
Nájera made his debut in the men's national team at the age of 17 in November 2015 in the pre-qualification for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . He later took part in the Division II World Championships in 2017 and 2018 . He also represented his colors at the pan-American ice hockey tournaments in 2015 and 2017. He was able to win the tournament with the Mexicans in 2017 and in 2015 took second place behind Colombia .
