April Lee Hernández

April Lee Hernández (born January 31, 1980 in New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Hernández has Puerto Rican ancestry. She graduated from Hunter College in New York , but did not graduate. Hernández first worked as a comedian .

The actress made her debut in the 2003 comedy Big Wes . In the film drama Freedom Writers (2007), she played a Latin American student of Erin Gruwell ( Hilary Swank ), who testified in a murder trial against a Latino under the influence of her teacher, despite her death. The New York Post newspaper referred to her as a new Jennifer Lopez in January 2007 .
