The Association of Free Schools of Lower Saxony eV (AGFS Nds.) Is the largest advocacy group of Free Schools in Lower Saxony . It can look back on over fifty years of history. Today more than 100 general and vocational schools in Lower Saxony are organized in it.

The association includes independent schools with different ideological , religious and educational orientations. These include denominational schools , independent Waldorf schools , rural education centers and other independent schools.

The association advocates adequate funding and the greatest possible state support for independent schools, with the aim of making school fees superfluous in all schools . Many independent schools still have to levy such a school fee in order to be able to bear the running costs. The AGFS sees Nds. a contribution to the diversity in Lower Saxony's school system that is worth preserving.

The association represents the interests of parliament , ministries and authorities. Active press and public relations work is also one of her tasks. It supports its members in their daily work and informs them about significant developments in school policy .
