Ariane Rädler (born January 20, 1995 in Bregenz , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian ski racer . She currently belongs to the A-team of the Austrian Ski Association and specializes in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines.
Career
Ariane Rädler comes from Möggers in northern Vorarlberg and starts for her home club. She started skiing at the age of two and a half. After attending the ski school Schruns - Tschagguns , she switched to the ski trade school in Stams and celebrated success in school races.
At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS races and a little later took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2011 in Liberec . She was denied a medal with ranks 19 and 21 in slalom and giant slalom . One day before her 18th birthday, she made her European Cup debut in the Schruns slalom . After being accepted into the B-team of the ÖSV, she sustained an ankle injury and suffered a cruciate ligament tear in her left knee during summer training in 2015 . Just four months after her comeback, she fell in a race in Liechtenstein and suffered the same injury a second time.
Rädler achieved her international breakthrough in winter 2017/18 , her first full season in three years. After celebrating her first top 10 results in the European Cup races in Innerkrems and Zauchensee , she made her World Cup debut on the downhill run from Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the beginning of February 2018 . On February 26th, she won her first downhill European Cup in Crans-Montana and followed suit two days later with another victory at the same location. In addition to her first Super-G, she also won the last downhill of the season in Soldeu and thus secured first place in the discipline classification. At the Austrian championships she also won the bronze medal in the downhill.
At the end of April 2018, Rädler suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during training for the third time in her career. After her comeback, she won her first World Cup points in January 2019 with rank 28 in the second downhill run from Cortina d'Ampezzo . A week later she scored her first points in the Super-G with twelfth place in Garmisch.
In December 2019, the 24-year-old suffered knee injuries while training for the Downhill in Lake Louise.
