Ariane Reimers (* 1973 in Hamburg ) is a correspondent for Norddeutscher Rundfunk .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1992, Reimers studied journalism as well as history and political science in Hamburg and Buenos Aires at the Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hamburg . After completing an internship at NDR from 1999 to 2001 , she was an author for Panorama . From 2006 to 2008 she was a freelance correspondent in the ARD studio in Singapore , then editor and head of duty for the daily topics . From July 2010 to December 2015 she was an ARD correspondent in Beijing . In January 2016 she moved to the ARD capital studio in Berlin.

On May 3, 2006, Reimers received the second TV award, endowed with 4,000 euros, at the Axel Springer Prize for young journalists for her magazine article China - The Village of Forgotten Children, which was first broadcast on November 10, 2005 on WDR . In this post she reported on the fate of children whose parents were sentenced to death.

Reimers was named CNN Journalist of the Year 2006 in Munich on November 16, 2006 . She convinced the jury with her socially critical report Father on Death Row . It is about the children of criminals in Beijing. These children are considered lepers and written off by their relatives in Chinese society and have no state protection.

In 2011 she received the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize for her reporting from the Japanese disaster area following the arrival of the tsunami triggered by the Tōhoku earthquake on the east coast of Japan.
