Arkadiusz Lisiecki (born January 12, 1880 in Posen , † May 13, 1930 in Teschen , Poland ) was Bishop of Katowice and a Polish politician.

Life

Trained in Paris and Rome , he was ordained a priest on December 17, 1904 . He held many positions in church and society, was editor and publisher of newspapers, monthly and quarterly magazines. He was elected as a delegate to the Sejm and was a member of the Supreme People's Council in Poland. As a professor of moral theology and canon law , he taught at the seminary in Gniezno .

Pope Pius XI appointed him on June 24, 1926 Bishop of Katowice. The episcopal ordination donated to him on October 24, 1926 his predecessor's then archbishop of Gniezno and Poznan , August Hlond ; Co- consecrators were Stanislaw Wojciech Okoniewski , Bishop of Chelmno ( Kulm ), and Antoni Laubitz , Auxiliary Bishop in Gnesen and Posen. Arkadiusz Lisiecki's episcopal motto was: Ut unum sint (“So that they may be one”).

On October 30, 1926 he was enthroned in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Katowice .

He died in Teschen and was buried in the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Katowice. In 1991 the coffin was transferred to the crypt of Christ the King's Cathedral.
